Miranda Mol is a Textile and Surface Pattern Designer from the Netherlands. From being a young girl textiles and colours have always fascinated Miranda. Bold and bright colours, in particularly, have always caught her attention. Patterns have been on her radar all her lifetime.
Graduated as Textile Designer and after a career as product/lighting designer, Miranda started her surface pattern design studio in 2012.
So nowadays Miranda is creating colourful vibrant pattern designs for home & interior products, hospitality design projects, bedding, wallpaper, fashion, technical devices and all kind of products. Her designs are bursting with loads of expression most of the time.
“My ideas and inspiration for pattern designs are found everywhere: in natural and man-made structures, architecture, basically all around me. Moreover, I get many ideas from cultural expressions, like arabesque patterns, ethnic design and tropical imagery. By drawing or painting some lines and forms or by making cutouts I start my designs, often into abstract compositions. I like this process of experimentation. When having lots of those elements I transform them into vibrant repeats and patterns in AI or PS.”
Miranda’s designs are sold and licensed to companies in homedecor, lifestyle products and fashion (active wear) worldwide.
In January 2017 Miranda did her first solo exhibition at Heimtextil Frankfurt.
From 2012-2016 Miranda’s work has been exposed on Indigo Paris, Surtex NYC, Blueprint NYC and PV Sao Paulo.
